Happy Tails

Happy Tails: Balsam aka Toffee Cake!

Things are going really well, actually!  She is officially named Toffee Cake, and is quickly learning her name and that good things happen when she comes for it. She started smiling on the freedom ride home and has hardly stopped, even smiling in her sleep.

She is finally able to shake her “kennel cold” with the help of her antibiotics (a bit sneezy, but doesn’t wake herself up with congestion and no longer sounds like she’s breathing through phlegm).  Toffee and Baby have been nearly inseparable and Rascal even wagged his tail at her last night when we had them both out on leashes. She LOVES the backyard, spending every minute out there that she can get away with, and thinks sweaters are the best thing ever. She’s had no fear about the fire in the fireplace (I wondered how she would react), but her favorite indoor spot is leaning against any human for long pets and scratches. She even smiles in her sleep.

We are working more on her housebreaking (she’s not good about cues yet, but at least has the courtesy of having her inside accidents in the basement utility room next to the cats’ litter boxes LOL). She still hates the crate, but she’s gotten better at sleeping in it for most of the night, and stopped having accidents at night after the third night (like clockwork, right?).
She is eager to learn, very eager to love and wants to be part of everything we do or that the other pups do. I don’t think she has met the cats yet, but I have watched KitKat turn the other way when she heard Toffee coming. LOL
